When you own a Doughboy® Swimming Pool, the best summer memories happen without you ever leaving home! Any day spent swimming and playing with your loved ones is a great day, but what about when you want to take the fun up a notch? That’s where these fun family pool games come in. Whether you’re planning a stay-at-home summer vacation or it’s just a regular old day, these family pool games will keep everyone entertained.
Marco Polo
Marco Polo is a classic pool game that never gets old. It requires at least three players, one of whom is “it.” The player who is “it” closes their eyes and yells “Marco” while others respond with “Polo.” The “it” player has to tag the other players by following the sound of their voices.
The Polo players can swim, hide, or even get out of the pool to avoid getting tagged. But, if the person who’s “it” realizes someone is out of the pool and calls, “Fish out of water!” that person becomes the next “it.”
Water Volleyball
Water volleyball is a fun way to play the classic game. You’ll need a pool volleyball net and a beach ball. Players are divided into teams, and the goal is to score points by hitting the ball over the net and making it land on the opponent’s side of the pool. As an added perk, water volleyball is a great way to get in a full-body workout!
Airball
A group of kids playing Airball.
The name says it all with this game. Keep a beach ball in the air and don’t let it hit the water. If you drop it, you’re out. The last player to remain is the winner.
Invisible Treasure Hunt
Similar to searching for underwater rings or toys, but with a fun twist, the treasure you’re searching for is invisible! To create your invisible treasure, peel the label off a soda bottle, preferably one with a clear lid. Once you fill it with water and let it sink to the bottom of your pool, it becomes nearly invisible. Finding it will be fun and more challenging than you might expect.
Shark Attack
Shark Attack is a pool game that requires at least four players. One player is the “shark” who has to tag other players while they’re swimming around in the pool. When a player is tagged, they become a “shark” too, and they have to help tag other players. The last player remaining is the winner.
Pool Noodle Races
Tuck it around your back, put it behind your knees or armpits, or straddle it like a bike – just whatever you do, don’t lose your pool noodle! Be the first person to swim (not walk) around the pool with your noodle and you win.
Rubber Ducky Races
Rubber duckies floating in a pool.
Think your kids are too old to play with rubber duckies? Not if they’re part of a pool race! People of all ages love to compete in rubber ducky races. The goal is to get your duck or floating toy across to the opposite pool wall the fastest. Walk or swim behind your ducky, making waves or blowing on it to get it across the pool quickly. The trick is that you can never touch your ducky and it can never bump into you either. Try it at your next pool party, and we bet it becomes one of your favorite family pool games.
